Fiqh

Register

start date: 18th January 2012 6pm tp 8pm

Allah (SWT) has created us to worship and obey Him and the Prophet (SAW) was sent down to educate us in how best to worship and serve Allah (SWT). We cannot worship Allah (SWT) according to our understanding, but rather it must be in accordance with the laws of Allah (SWT). The rules and regulations which outline the method of worship and obedience are termed as ‘Fiqh’ (Islamic Jurisprudence or Sacred Law). The manner of purifying ourselves, the manner of performing our Salah, Fasting, Hajj, Zakah, Nikah and etc are all explained to us through the subject of Fiqh. The great famous Imams have extracted the rules and regulations of Fiqh from the Qur`an and Ahadith. Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Shafi’i. Imam Malik and Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (May Allah’s mercy be upon them) are some of the great Imams. After a deep study of the Shari’ah, they have compiled books on Fiqh, making it easy for us to follow Islam

Tajweed

Register

start date: 17th January 2012 6pm to 8pm

Tajweed is the art in which one learns how to recite the Holy Qur`an as it was revealed to the Prophet (SAW). Tajweed is an Arabic word meaning correct pronunciation during recitation. It is a set of rules which dictate how the Qur`an should be read. It comes from the root word ‘ja-wa-da’ meaning to make well, make better or improve. The Qur`an was revealed with Tajweed rules applied to it. In other words, when angel Jibraeel (AS) recited the words of Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) he recited them in a certain way and he showed the Prophet (SAW) the ways in which it was permissible to recite the Qur`an. So it is upon us to observe those rules so that we recite it in the way it was revealed. At the time of the Prophet (SAW) there was no need for people to study Tajweed because they talked with what is now known as Tajweed so it was natural for them. When the Arabs started mixing with the non-Arabs as Islam spread, mistakes in Qur`an recitation started appearing, so the scholars of the time had to record the rules. Now, because the everyday Arabic that Arabs speak has changed so much from the Classical Arabic with which the Qur`an was revealed, even Arabs have to study Tajweed.

Aqeedah

Date to be confirmed

Our faith is based on the unseen, as taught to us by the Prophet (SAW). We can only be true believers if our belief is in accordance with the belief of the Prophet (SAW). The key to the doors of paradise is belief. If our beliefs are incorrect or incomplete, then though we may perform the deeds of a Muslim, look like a Muslim, do all that a Muslim does, we will not be judged as such by Allah (SWT). This belief system is known as ‘Aqaa`id. Our ‘Aqaa`id will protect us from falling prey to the deviant beliefs which the Prophet (SAW) had warned us of and secure us a place in Jannah. The principles of ‘Aqeedah are those which Allah (SWT) has commanded us to believe in, as mentioned in the verse: “The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books and His Messengers. They say, ‘We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers’ – and they say, ‘We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).’” [al-Baqarah 2:285] If you’re interested in any of the above courses then get in touch now!
